The Sylvia Richardson Care Facility is a multi-level Senior Care Facilities, whose mission is to provide quality long-term care. They take pride in the geriatric education program, personalized care, flexible scheduling and offer an exciting opportunity to individuals wanting to join a team dedicated to the restoration of the Long-Term Care Industry. Their aim is to employ staff who are well trained, personally suitable and have a genuine interest in caring for the elderly. The ideal candidates will be mature individuals, flexible, physically/mentally fit team players with good interpersonal /communication skills. It is expected that all employees contribute to the development and maintenance of a ‘home-like environment and have the ability to positively interact with seniors who are physically and cognitively challenged. Previous experience working in a nursing home or similar environment is an asset, along with the ability to work on a shift basis. All applicants will be required to undergo drug/alcohol testing and security vetting as a part of the pre-employment screening.
Applications are invited for the positions of Geriatric Aides. The post holders will work as a member of a resident care team under the general supervision of a nurse.
Duties and responsibilities of the post include:
· The provision of personal care to the residents
· Assistance with Activities of daily living
· Assistance with rehabilitation and Recreational care
· Ability to operate within a team environment
· Ability to incorporate humour in their tasks
· Demonstration of a strong work ethic and sense of commitment
Applicants must possess the BSC or equivalent, the Geriatric Aide Training Certificate or equivalent, together with a minimum of 1-year’s experience working with the elderly and should be mature. The Department of Health is prepared to consider applications from those who do not meet the experience requirement; however, if successful, applicants will be required to commence at a lower salary and to successfully complete the Department’s Geriatric Aide Programme.
