Medical Officer

The Department of Health is seeking a qualified individual to fill the post of Medical Officer.

 

Working under the direction of the Senior Medical Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of medical care and clinical preventive services in the Communicable Diseases, Maternal Health & Family Planning, Travel Health, Occupational Health, Child Health, and School Health Clinics.  The officer must be able to manage clinics in collaboration with the nursing supervisor, supervise medical services to a varied patient caseload, lead meetings and provide direction for health promotion activities.

 

Applicants must possess a MD., M.B.B.S., M.B.Ch.B., or other recognized medical degree. Two (2) years’ post-graduate training in either family medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, or community medicine is required. Post graduate training in public health would be an asset.  Further, a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in clinical medicine, preferably in a community setting is required. In addition applicants must be eligible for registration with the Bermuda Medical Council.
