The Ministry of Education and Development has a vacancy for the post of Home Intervention Worker at the Child Development Programme.
Working under the direction of the Portage Programme supervisor the post holder will deliver treatment services in the Portage Programme, a home teaching and family support programme for preschool children who are developmentally delayed, and their families. The postholder also collaborates and consults with relevant professionals regarding clients and families. As requested, also undertakes duties, including developmental screenings.
Duties and responsibilities of the post include, but are not limited to:
· analyzing the needs of the assigned children and their families; effectively developing and recommending individualised programme goals and plans, in full consultation with family;
· administering the recommended plans with the children and their families, via home visiting;
· collaborating with the relevant professionals involved with the clients to provide coordinated trans-disciplinary service as required;
· identifying and coordinating relevant professional and community resources necessary to enhance the optimal development of the children and to support the parents; and
· administering developmental screening tests for children 24-30 months of age.
Applicants must possess a Masters degree, or equivalent in Special Education or a Masters degree in Child Development or a related field with at least two courses in special education together with at least two (2) years of experience working with young children and families.
Experience with children with special needs is a strong asset. The work is done on a school year basis with a flexible work week which includes evening work. The successful applicant must provide his/her own transportation and will be reimbursed for mileage.
*Pro-rated salary = $71,891- $77,382
